How was your weekend? Mine was humid and lonely.
Okay, lonely is a bit of an overstatement, but Adam is doing his sailing lessons which run all day Saturday/Sunday, and apparently Adam is my only friend. Well there’s Winston of course as well, except he is a cat.
Also it was humid. So, SO humid. I couldn’t even workout outside, that’s how THICK the air felt.
Anyway, Adam will be finished his lessons after this weekend so thank GOD. I cannot entertain myself for another weekend alone.
May was definitely a slower month than the last two, and I wish I could say I used the time wisely to get some other stuff done. Obviously I didn’t though, because that would be responsible. However, lets recap some of my favorite things!
Favorite Wellness Product
My girl Kelly who I went to UBC with, works at Sage Natural Wellness which is quickly becoming one of my favorite companies. Sage is allllll about natural remedies to cure any and all ailments, including stress, anxiety, sleep problems, headaches, etc.
I am all about the natural way to ‘fix’ and cure, and so was super excited to receive this amazing package in the mail. The alien-esque looking egg thing is an Ultrasonic Nebulizer which diffuses lovely smells throughout your room during the night. It also acts as an air purifier and humidifier.
There was also an anti-stress mist spray, ‘muscle melt’ body butter, bath salts, and some more oils and diffusers. The most wonderful treat!
The other weekend one of my best friends and I did a mini-shoot in and around the Toronto financial district. Going downtown during the weekend is actually cooler than you would think – it’s practically empty because no one has to work, but everything is still open.
There’s this super cute restaurant called Maman Cafe, which is usually PACKED during the week. On Saturday we easily got a spot on the patio and had a bite to eat. It was served on the most beautiful plates and saucers, and everything tasted wonderful.
Favorite Fitness Product
If you’re Toronto based, you guys should definitely check out Just Try It. One of the founders Leila, initially started FitSet which runs in Edmonton, Alberta. More recently she started Just Try It and partnered with tons of different yoga, fitness, and crossfit studios in Toronto.
This ‘taster pack’ for fitness allows you to choose up to 10 out of their 45 studios and experience one drop in class. This allows you to try something completely new, and if you like it, you can sign up afterwards for a membership. It’s $50 a month which comes out to only $5 a class!
They also like to feature and showcase some of the local fitness personalities and entrepreneurs around Toronto and I was honored to be interviewed by them. If you’d like to check it out, click here!
And finally – (this was the best part of my entire month) – Beyonceeee!!!!
Adam surprised me with tickets to her show last Wednesday, and it was beyond incredible. I was in awe the entire time she performed. I have never been a huge Beyonce fan (although I did grow up with an obsession to Destiny’s Child), and this show blew me away.
Her voice, her stage presence, the dancing and choreography, her speeches, ALL OF IT. The entire time I sat there inspired, motivated, and wanting to do more with my life. It wasn’t just the show itself, but just the realization that she has been doing this for such a long time, has worked her ass off day in and day out, and influences so many people on a daily basis.
It was very humbling to be in the audience of her show, because I would truly say that it was a once in a life-time experience.
To wrap this up, here’s a video that Beyonce played a bit of at her show. It’s only 2 minutes long and it was a video she filmed when she was only 16 years old. Pretty inspiring and adorable.
