Quite often I get asked about my meal plans or ideas on what other people can bring to work or school so they can eat healthy throughout the week. I maintain a fairly strict regime of buying groceries and preparing food on the weekend, so that my meals are all set out for me for the next 7 days.
This allows me to:
- Maintain a healthy diet
- Save money by avoiding overpriced lunches bought in the food court
- Ensure I am getting a sufficient amount of fruit, vegetables and protein daily
- Save time for myself during the week by not having to prepare food the night before
- Experiment with different recipes and find new tastes I enjoy
This meal plan I have created is EXACTLY what I would eat throughout the week (minus the meat – I substitute other protein), and easy to follow, although you will have to sacrifice some hours in the day to prepare it. Some dishes require seasoning, so it is important to have at least a few types of spices around the house. And last but not least, be open to trying different types of food! I love everything, ranging from Asian, Mexican, Indian, and North American dishes, and refuse to stick to tilapia and broccoli every day. That sounds like prison food to me.
