My Favorite LBJ (Little Black Jacket)

It’s the beginning of November, and I have only JUST started to have to wear a toque.

(Which, by the way, is a warm hat. Apparently people from the States are not aware of this term, as I was laughed at for a good few minutes by my kind and endearing friends. Last time I ever offer to lend you my toque).

The weather is cold, but it’s not cold ENOUGH for my winter jacket. Not just yet.

However it’s not warm enough for my dope vintage suede jacket with the faux fur that hits me hip length. I was stuck in a weird spot.

My Canada Goose Camp Hooded Jacket from Altitude Sports is the perfect in-between-er jacket for end of fall / beginning of winter.

It’s black, (just like Toronto now is at 5pm).

It’s classy and clean cut.

It’s thigh length.

And I can wear it to bike.

That last point is vair important – I have decided I will bike everywhere until AT LEAST December 1st, and finding a jacket that is fashionable AND can stand up against chilly headwinds is SO KEY. If you’re a biker, you know exactly what I mean.

The double zipper allows me to unzip from the bottom, so I can sit comfortably on the bike seat without the jacket bunching up against my waist. It is padded with 750 fill power duck down, but isn’t bulky or hard to maneuver around in.

The other day, I went out with some friends on a particularly chilly and windy day. Because I have bad judgement, I decided to wear a crop top and jeans. My friends all scoffed at me; ‘you’ll freeze! what are you thinking Beverley?!’

I was pleasantly surprised (and smug) to find that the entire day, I didn’t feel cold ONCE. This bad boy blocks the wind and chill like your bulky winter jacket would. I’m sure the insulated wind guard under front zipper helps too.

This jacket comes in some great other colors, such as bright red, forest green, and a navy blue. Up until now, I owned a jacket in every color EXCEPT black (surprising, since my entire wardrobe is black or heather grey), so this was a no brainer.

Also it styles perfectly with my brand new combat boots, so a win-win for Cheng.

Whats the weather like in your city? Are you hunkering down for winter, or are you outside in all your glory in your favorite winter coat? If you’re currently on the hunt for a new one, I definitely suggest checking out Altitude Sports for their collections!
